So it's obvious I've put off updating. And I need to catch everyone up. However, I only have time to say that today is Annabelle's first day of kindergarten. She is excited and nervous. When we dropped her off there were no tears from either of us, but it was heartbreaking. I cannot believe she is THIS big already!!
Also today Elsie pooped in her potty! We've had it sitting out for weeks because she doesn't like when her diapers are dirty or wet and tells us right away that she needs changed. So we've been telling her to go on her potty and she won't have a dirty diaper. Today she took the diaper off and was sitting on the potty. I didn't think much of it because she always messes around on it. But a minute later she was standing up saying "blehhhhh" pointing at her potty. I was SO excited. She wasn't sure it was OK so I kept telling her how good she was and hugging her. I gave her candy and a sticker. After I cleaned the potty out and she saw it wasn't going to stay in there she was fine. She smiled when I asked her if she pooped in her potty. :D
I know she won't be potty trained for a while, but the fact that she knows what to do in there is a huge deal! I'm so proud of her.
Now we are just going to have a day alone and wait for Annabelle to come home. I cannot wait for her silly stories about her day. I wish I could peak in on her and see what she is up to :)

Slacking again
So it's been a while since I updated. We've been very busy :) We spent several days at Lakeside, Lake Erie this past week. It was a nice break and the girls had fun.
I've been attempting to remember a few funny things they've said or done to put here...
One day Elsie was looking at a board book and I commented on it being a board book. Annabelle said "this is NOT a board book." (she knows they are called board books and calls them that herself) and I told her yes it was a board book. She said "But it's not even boring!" haha.
Another day Elsie was nursing and Annabelle told her she was just borrowing those boobies from her. I just kinda frowned and she said "they were mine FIRST!!!" I cracked up and made sure she knew noooo they were MINE first. I let you both borrow them :D
Elsie seems to be getting more teeth...snotty and yucky. So that's been no fun, but otherwise she's as funny as ever. She still asks to go outside ALL DAY LONG....bringing us her shoes. Also I cannot even count or keep up with the amount of words she says. She is mostly at the level where I can tell her "say _____" a few times and she will attempt it.
One day I told her to hug me and she really, really squeezed. I told her how nice it was and to give me a kiss. She did and said "llllllllllove!" and it just melted me!! She knows I tell her that I love her after hugs and kisses but she said it before I even got a chance too. How stinkin' sweet!
Storytime has started and we've went to the lake once. So we're keeping busy! What fun summer is :P

"Plants for Sale!"
Chris cut down some unknown plant/weed the other day. First Annabelle took the branches and put them in a pot of dirt "planting" them. Tonight she decided she wanted to sell them. She stood out front yelling "plants for sale!!" for a while then came back in. She begged me to let her cross the street. She was convinced that if I let her she would be able to sell some to the neighbors over there. Finally we settled on her leaving branches on the neighbors porches. She must have left them on 10 different porches for free!!
Later she told me that they were for a quarter or a penny. But people had to come pick them up. There would be no mailing them. She also made a sign and taped it to her bedroom window, just to let people know she had some plants for sale. :) She is so sweet and acts just like my sister and I did.
Today Elsie said cracker for the first time. I gave her one while I was on the computer. She ate it and then was wondering around. She came back saying "caa cehh" over and over. I was just kinda like "yeahhh..." Then after a while she got mad and cried. Finally it clicked. She's saying CRACKER!! So I made a big deal about how good it was and gave her one :) Smartie pants.

No school
So since school is out, we've been hanging around relaxing for a while. It's been nice. Summer story time will be starting up soon and we will be going to the lake some days. Annabelle is liking the break but at times gets bored....already. She was asking me 10 billion questions yesterday (about vacuum cleaners) and I finally said "well thanks for asking 100 questions" And in complete seriousness she said "you're welcome" :D It was so sweet!
Elsie is napping at the moment. She just walked toward me, binkie in mouth, pulling a huge blanket behind her that she had pulled from the closet. Love that baby :)

Tattoo!
Today Annabelle told me she wanted a tattoo. OK. Where does she want it? Her arm. ughhh. OK. What does she want? A dragon. haha ew.
Elsie got caught up on her shots today. You would never know it though. She's been great all day.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the baby pool going! She is going to LOVE it.

It's all starting...
Today while I was on the phone Elsie threw a craft jewel into the toilet. 10 minutes later she found a crayon and colored on the wall. A couple hours later she stuck a USB cord near by the outlet, touched the metal prongs of the computer charger sending sparks flying. She tripped the circuit. I didn't realize it was the circuit until later...AFTER I had ordered a new computer charger. Ohhhh boy. She's got us in for it.
Graduation
Tonight went great. After Annabelle got out of school we had a "welcome to summer" party. We wore sunglasses and leis. She and Elsie got new sand buckets, shovels and a beach ball to share. Annabelle got new squirt guns, a new kite, and a hula hoop. We had fun and ate popsicles.
Annabelle was super cute at her graduation and super excited. She sang her songs really well. She made me melt watching her. She was just so super sweet!
They had to say their name into the microphone and say what they wanted to be when they grew up. I was anxious to see what she would say. She usually has at least half a dozen things she rattles off. She said she wanted to be a baker. :D So cute.
Afterwards we had some cake and gave her small presents. We're so proud of her. She went all school year without even getting a warning about her bad behavior. Good girl. And a smart cookie!

LLLLLLOVE!
Tonight Elsie said love. My mom has been telling her "LOVE" every time she tells her goodbye. So when we say I love you, she could say love back. So I started doing it as well. Tonight I told her "I love you!!" then I said "Llllllove." she smiled and said it back!! It was so so super sweet. Almost like she knew what it meant!
Tomorrow Annabelle graduates preschool! It's a big day!

Big week!
Well this is a big week for Annabelle. She is graduating preschool Thursday. Then on Sunday she has her dance recital. I have a few surprises planned for her since she's done such a wonderful job in school and at dance. She is excited for both things!
Annabelle is reading more and more. She surprises me at times and will read stuff I'm typing or road signs. She can't wait for kindergarten already.
She has been full on nonsense as usual. During a bath she told my mom she had a really bad headache and didn't think they should wash her hair. My mom was giving her the "oh no! that's too bad!" and apparently she felt guilty. She said "Not really I just don't want to wash my hair." Freakin' turd!!
Elsie is amazing. Totally amazing. She's a MESS and into way more things than Annabelle ever was, but she is so smart. She is following more and more commands, asking for more things, and repeating more words. We can say something like "oh no, it got stuck!" and she will say "tuck!" or we can say "does Elsie want to do it?" and she will say "dooo it." She is so much fun and so friendly still. We went to a music festival all weekend and had to keep a close eye on her or else she would be with a stranger, trying to play. We get many comments on how sweet she is.
She does still throw major fits and bites a lot. She gets angry and just screams if she doesn't get her way. We just leave her alone and allow her to scream. It's a lot of fun :)
We took her to Children's hospital for a surgery consult for her hernia. It confirmed what we thought - she is fine to wait until age 3 at least. So hopefully it will close on itself before then. That was a relief.
They're so smart and healthy that it's hard to complain about a thing!

More updates
And so it is offical. Annabelle can read! :) She is so smart. I'm embarassed to say I haven't worked with her as much as I should have. However, one night I read her a book (for the second time ever) and when I was done she asked if she could read it to me. I said sure and was expecting a bit she may have memorized here and there. She took her finger, placed it on the first word, and off she went. She read the whole book with very, very little help sounding things out. It amazed me! And so she's been reading beginner reading books for the past week now. She's sitting here with me reading parts of this that she can :D My big girl.
As for Elsie, she's running, still warming hearts wherever she goes, and getting into more stuff! She feeds herself now. When it's something she can't do alone I have to get another spoon and slide in bites. Such an independant girl!!
After her bath a couple nights ago she was still messing with the bottle of lotion (a favorite of hers) and I passed by the kitchen table, saw a small piece of garlic bread from dinner that was left behind, grabbed it, and threw it away. Then I sat on the couch. A minute later Elsie came in the room eating the garlic bread. I laughed and let her have it, but decided I better look in the trash to make sure nothing too gross was right on top. I looked in and saw the lotion she had been playing with! She switched out the lotion for the bread. haha. Turd. I had previously rescued things like crayons and such from the trash. There's been other incidents since as well. Toys and such thrown away. What a help!!
Annabelle is registered for kindergarten now. And she is nearing the end of her dance classes. She will have her recital at the end of the month. I am so excited for her. She does a great job in class!

Night away
Last night our family spent the night in Cincinnati. We first stopped in Loveland, OH and toured a castle (Chateau LaRoche) which was built by hand. It is beautiful! We're so glad we took a route a tiny bit out of the way to see it!
After that we went to Newport, KY to the aquarium. We had a great time! Elsie loved looking out at the fish and of course Annabelle was full of excitement and scurrying around. Then we checked in our hotel, Garfield Suites Hotel in Cincinnati. We found out our room was upgraded from a one bedroom with kitchen, living room and balcony to a 2 bedroom with all of those! YES! It was really nice. Outdated decor and appliances for sure. But VERY clean and right in downtown! We had dinner in town and enjoyed our evening there. Elsie had a juice high and ran like a wild woman around the room. The girl giggled more than she ever has!! She was tricking Annabelle and cracking us all up. She was the entertainment for the most part!
Today we walked around the city a bit. We tried to go to the observation deck on Carew Tower but it was closed. We checked out of the hotel and went to the Duke Energy Children's Museum. It is AWESOME. There is so much to do. Great places to build, GREAT places to pretend, climb, play with different materials and machines, etc. So fun! After that we headed home and stopped by Jeffersonville Outlet mall on the way home. We're exhausted and happy to be home, but it was a great trip.
Annabelle says "the woods" in the children's museum was the best part of the trip. I was very surprised at how well she slept in her own bedroom in the hotel with no night light or anything. We didn't have a single problem with that. She's growing up!
Great to get away for a night....also great to come back home!

There are no words...
So there really are none...none to describe what happened this morning. Elsie has diaper rash. I was letting her go diaperless to air that thing out! I went into the dining room to pick some things up and came back out to see her making a terrible face and spitting. I then saw her fingers were covered in something. I got closer to determine what it was. Poop. Everywhere, poop. I took her straight to the tub and washed her, drained the tub, and washed her again. Oh I can't imagine.....
Speaking of the diaper rash.. I told Annabelle Elsie's butt was raw. She got serious, looked up at me, and said "you mean it needs cooked?" :) What a sweet little thing!
They're both growing like crazy. Elsie officially walks all over. She constantly stops, waves and tells cars passing "BYE!" She also waves at people in public and tells them bye. All seem to just love it! She has one new tooth (finally) and another on the verge of breaking through.
Annabelle is glad to be back to school after spring break. She wrote her 2nd cousin (who is 15) a letter today. It said "Dear Colleen, I got a pet fish. I love spring. Annabelle" :D hehe how sweeeeeet?!?! She also drew a picture of the both of them rollerskating with helmets and elbow pads!
I promise I'm attempting to write more here. The purpose of it was that it's easier to keep up with, yet I still don't keep up with it.
Another sweet, sweet story that warmed my heart... We walked to the post office today. When we got there I was buying the stamps so I put Elsie down and she stood below me. There was a poster hanging with cat and dog stamps on it. Annabelle bent down and kept saying "Look Elsie there's a dog. Look another dog! And a cat!" Elsie loved it. She smiled and touched the poster. Then she just turned, looked right at Annabelle and brushed her cheek softly. It was such a sweet moment. I'm sure she was just thinking "wow my sister is so nice. I love her!" Annabelle thought so too because she giggled and said "I love you Elsie." I guess it was just one of those moments that a mother loves!!
They make everyday something special that's for sure.

Partyyyy
We had the girls party yesterday. It went well! They got so much stuff that I'm still trying to find places for it all! Elsie may be getting a new toy box soon!!
We've had lots going on, which is one reason I haven't been writing. Elsie is walking more and more, but also realizes crawling is still faster. She is blowing kisses and loving on us all. Baby dolls are her latest thing. While watching my cousins 3 month old baby, Elsie kissed her at least 30 times on the head until I made her stop! She also brought her a baby doll bottle and tried to feed her! She is SO sweet like that. She seems advanced in her thinking that way to me. Of course I am her mom though! :P She took a spill down a few stairs and is currently sporting a wonderful bruise on her forehead! :D
Annabelle is still cracking me up daily. The other day she was telling me a story from school and said what she was doing that day. Then she follows that with "MEANWHILE, the other girls were...." and I cut her off to ask "did you just say meanwhile?" haha. She used it correctly.
I can't believe Elsie is almost one and Annabelle is almost done with preschool. I am marking my calendar for kindergarten registration thinking "HOW did this happen??"
It's crazy how time can fly.

My big 5 year old!
And so yesterday Annabelle turned 5! It seems crazy! We let her open one small present in the morning before Chris went off to school. She played with it most of the morning....play doh scissors...
Later we went to the nursing home where my mom works. We took a little tour and even went in the kitchen. We had to wear hairnets and the girls looked super adorable. Annabelle told everyone there that it was her birthday and she was 5. Super proud of herself for turning a year older!
We also did some shopping and got Annabelle some much needed rain boots. She's outgrown her old ones. She also found $5 on the floor in WalMart. No one was around and so I let her keep it. She bought a Polly Pocket and couldn't have been more happy. She swore it was her birthday luck that she found it. We also played in the mall and Chris met us there. He took her to the candy store in the mall because she requested a visit there on her birthday (after I told her we couldn't go to the zoo haha) We went out to eat, went home, opened presents, had cake, and watched a movie together. It was a nice day!
As for Elsie, she has been walking! She's taken up to 7 - 8 steps all on her own. She loves to do it, but has to feel safe. She won't venture out into the middle of the room unless one of us are there with our arms open wide, waiting. She will walk from the doorway to the chair, chair to the couch, etc. She falls in between but gets right back up :) She is so proud of herself and so am I!
Elsie is also understanding things a lot better. She will do simple things we ask like "sit down."
Both girls are loving the warmer weather. They adore taking walks and playing outside. Today Annabelle put her boots to good use at the MUDDY park. First we fed the geese and Elsie found it totally hysterical. She would laugh every time Annabelle threw out a piece of bread. I kept telling her "geese! geese!" and finally I said "bird" and she picked that up and said "bir bir bir!" And eventually I told her they were like ducks. She also picked that up and said "duh, duh, duh" She's said both words before and since "geese" isn't a top priority word to teach her (hehehe) I let her call them ducks :) We'll let it slide for now!!
Of course there were some geese dominating the food and so I was calling them names. As we were walking away Annabelle asked if it was a bad word. I had no idea which word she meant, though I didn't think I said any BAD ones. So I said no and she said "BYE YA JERKS!" haha.
They are both pooped out at the moment. All this fresh air does us good!

Today's fun
Tonight before bed Annabelle was getting tired. She went to get a piece of toilet paper to wipe her nose. She came out of the bathroom yelling "mommy!! I threw the toilet paper in the toilet!!" I went to see what she meant. She had thrown the roll in there!! She was so worried!! She "got mixed up" I'm guessing she wiped her nose and went to throw the small piece in the toilet and threw the whole roll. HAHA. She started to cry and kept saying "it was an accident! Please don't be mad at me!!!" I just laughed and told her I wasn't mad, double bagged up my hang, reached in, fished it out, and threw it in another waiting bag. Ha! Being a mom calls for all kinds of adventures!
Elsie also made a small mess. She was rolling a crayon around on the tile while Annabelle was at school. I let her do it because I was just pleased she wasn't eating it. Later I found the same orange crayon laying on the furnace register, half melted. Super! :)
But she made up for it with her total cuteness. Annabelle was jumping on a floor mat at my parent's house. Elsie jumped along with her (with my mom's help) and Annabelle kept saying "jump! jump! jump!" Finally Elsie tried only she said bump! It was so adorable. My heart melted!
Always fun times with these kiddos!!

Busy busy!
First let me start by saying I finally have a niece!! :D Nora was born a couple months early on 3-1 (on her big brother's birthday!!) and weighs just over 3 pounds. She is doing well! My brother got to come home from Iraq for it!
My sister-in-law has been having serious troubles with blood platelets being super low, and kidney and liver problems. She has HELLP syndrome. Thankfully delivery usually helps resolve a lot of the issues and her liver is doing much better today. We're still keep them both in our prayers and we're so excited to have another member of the family.
As far as the girls, they're doing great. School and dance for Annabelle, making messes for Elsie. I am thinking Elsie may be having a growth spurt. She is eating like a fattie butt.
Funny things she's done today include: Eating yogurt off all the yogurt covered raisins and then spitting the raisins out...Stealing Annabelle's apple to eat...repeatedly trying to eat a piece of fake cheese, it does look so real!....trying to feed my cousin Cassie's little baby a play baby bottle (sooo sweet)....opening and spilling one of those Dole plastic things of Pears all over the kitchen floor and then messing in it....probably more I'm sure.
Today Annabelle got out of bed this morning and came and laid with Elsie and myself on the couch. We were all 3 sleeping together. It was really sweet. She also has asked me if we're getting her anything else besides play doh scissors for her birthday. She was with me when I bought them and is afraid that's all she is getting. She told me it's ok if that's all she gets though :) Coming soon! Last week as a 4 year old!
Here they are today. Annabelle did it then Elsie had to try too!
With her stolen apple.

Realized something
Today I realized something new. I have told Chris for the past year and a half that some of what we do Annabelle could possibly remember forever. I think my first memory is when I was about 3. And so I've had that thought in the back of my mind for a while now. Yet today I ran into my old babysitter's daughter (who is my age) and we talked for a few minutes in the grocery. When she walked away Annabelle asked who she was. I told her. But then I realized I was about Annabelle's age when I was going to that babysitter. I have very clear memories from there. And while some of them probably happened when I was older, it still dawned on me that not only is she going to have memories from this time in her life, but very clear ones. Not the memory I have of myself at age 3 anymore. The memories I have of myself at age 5. While that seems obvious to say, I haven't been thinking about it that way all this time. It's a bit scary...like I have to shape up and be a real parent or something. She will for sure remember if I mess up now.
Today I had some shopping to do. Since Annabelle was good we stopped in PetSmart to visit the birdies, fishies and small rodenty pets. And since Elsie loves birds, we spent a good bit of time watching them. The amazement on her face is something I had to just tell myself "hold onto this" because it was so beautiful. She started saying "bir bir" And I said over and over Bird, Bird, Bird....a bit like Bambi does. That was her first time saying it. I really need to write down every word she's ever said. I think it could win some kind of a record. There's so many that I'm scared to tell people for fear that they will think I'm making it all up.
Also today Annabelle had dance again. She has it on Tuesdays but since we had so many snow days, today was a make up day. She has asked me several times what a "make up class" is. And I kept telling her I had no idea, thinking she was talking about make-up, make-up. Finally I realized she had heard us say that, and was thinking in her mind that she would be going to class tonight and having someone do her make-up perhaps? I can't help but crack up when I think of how she hears things differently. It's usually sweet and innocent. If only they would stay that way forever!

Here we go! First post!
So wow here we are! As I said above I am attempting this in order to try and 'save' some of the memories of the girls. I have never blogged before, but I do love to talk about my family...pretty much nonstop, so hopefully I can keep up with this.
So I guess I should start from the beginning. I can get pretty lengthy in my stories so to keep away from that I will do it in list form. Important dates in our lives...How we got where we are....
Dec 30, 2001 Our first date
Jan 6, 2002 We began dating
Feb 24, 2002 Chris was sent to Japan for 17 months
Jul 23, 2004 We got married
Feb 1, 2005 Chris got deployed to Iraq
Mar 10, 2005 Annabelle Marie is born. 8 lbs 12 oz. and PERFECT
Mar 23, 2005 Chris got to meet Annabelle
May 30, 2005 Family was reunited for good! :) Chris was back in OH
Dec 25, 2005 We took possession of our first home
Mar ? 2006 We moved into our home after months of renovation
several more years of fun and laughter from Annabelle
Apr 1, 2009 Elsie Mae was born. 9 lbs 3 oz and PERFECT as well!
It's funny how short a list can be of major life events. The time span of 8+ years and only 11 things listed. But it's not to forget all the heart ache of long distance dating, deployment to Iraq, job searching, house hunting, months and months of trying for a second child and every other little horrible moment shared. However those moments pale in comparison to the birth of children and watching them learn and grow and turn into people. Every holiday and birthday is magic in our household. Wishes can come true. The joy I get from being their mom is insane. It's more than anyone can put into words.
So that about brings us to here...Annabelle will soon be 5 and Elsie will follow just after turning 1. We're planning a combined party for the end of March. The theme will be Under the Sea.
Annabelle is in preschool and has tested above average for the classroom on state testing they had to do. She is learning to read and spell. She is constantly writing things or asking how to spell things. She also loves to cut. We have scraps of paper all over this house. She is taking ballet and will have a big recital in April. She loves to have stories read to her, play games, and ride her coaster car. She is a huge help with her sister and worries about her half the day. Often times she screams for us to "get her!!!!" as if it's life or death, when in fact Elsie is only standing on the bottom step. She is very opinionated and has her own ideas of how and when things should be done. She loves to make people laugh and sometimes tries entirely too hard to do so. Yet her trying so hard is also funny.
Elsie is of course sitting and crawling and talking. She has 6 teeth (2 of which we thought she might lose when she knocked them loose several weeks ago!) She loves to take baths, play in the fridge, follow and mimic her sister, tear stuff out of my purse, try to get to the toilet, and to race to the stairs. She can climb them completely alone with us following her. She sings "la la la" anytime there is music on. There are so many words she has said, but never uses them all at the same time. She is still nursing but is totally off baby food. She will only eat 'real' food now. She had her first egg today. Apparently it was delicious. She figures things out very quickly. We catch her trying to put straws into drinks, trying to run my debit card through the machine at the store, trying to color, dusting, and holding the camera up to her face to take a picture. She has a "cheese" face for the camera that is to die for!! She can stack blocks, find her nose, eyes, and mouth, and stand alone for up to 30 seconds. Today she has started walking behind a push along toy with no problems. Had we showed her how to do it, she probably could have done it a week or 2 ago.
Both girls are happy and so funny.
Things to expect in this blog are day to day things we've done, their latest accomplishments, funny stories, and pictures here and there. I hope that writing this can keep family up to date on them, as well as allow me to look back once in a while and see how far we've come. I am very excited to start this. I often forget which stories I've told to which family member. And so now, if you don't know it's your own fault.
As I type this Annabelle is singing "All You Need is Love" to Elsie. How fitting for our life :)
